Heat Exhaustion

On warmer days a health concern facing hunters can be Heat Exhaustion. The excitement of the hunt, the greater physical effort and the possibility of becoming dehydrated can lead a hunter to become over heated. This is a dangerous condition and must be addressed immediately

Symptoms of heat exhaustion

  • Profuse sweating

  • Headache

  • Dizziness

  • Nausea

  • Flushed or reddened skin

  • Rapid or fast breathing and heart beat

  • Muscle weakness or cramps

  • Fatigue

Treatment of heat exhaustion

  • Stop all activity

  • Cool down the person as soon as possible

  • Hydrate with cool water or Gatorade

  • Get medical attention if the condition doesn't improve within an hour
